  1.                     CALIBRATION OF THE KERATOMETER

  3. Units Available For Calibraton

  5. The keratometer should be 
  6. checked when first purchased 
  7. and then periodically to be sure 
  8. you are obtaining accurate 
  9. readings.   
  10.  
  11. Prior to the actual calibration 
  12. procedure you must first focus 
  13. the eyepiece.  If you do not 
  14. know how to do this click here.

  16. To calibrate the instrument you 
  17. need a set of calibration balls 
  18. (ball bearings) or at least one 
  19. calibration ball.  A standard set of three balls, with radii that give readings of 40.50 D., 42.50 D. and 44.75 D., is shown, as is another calibration unit with just one 42.50 D. surface.
